John Rose started Coalport at a pottery in Colebrookdale in Shropshire, England as long ago as
1795. Some the early pieces produced at the pottery carry the mark 'Colebrookdale Porcelain'. Needless to say,
these carry a premium! Coalport's glazed porcelain proved very popular and by the 1830s, Coalport was one of the
leading potteries of England. It has remained a household name ever since.
Coalport figurines have become increasingly popular due to their beauty, elegance, and fine
detail and remain firm favourites.
The Coalport Collectors Society was formed in 1994, now renamed the Collectors Choice.
Membership benefits include a quarterly magazine, exclusive VIP factory visits, and free entrance to the Wedgwood
Visitors Centre. Members also receive a free joining gift and the chance to purchase special edition figurines.
Coalport has produced a number of special editions including the excellent Collingwood series,
which have already become highly prized.
